Do We Want Our Children to be Holy or Happy?

I am thankful for all of the photos I have found recently on Pinterest that simply convey the truth of God's word in an understandable, practical, and accurate way.

Here are a few other photos I saw on Pinterest recently.  I hope they will be an encouragement to those reading the Emma Joy Blog and an admonishing exhortation to offer God your whole life...all that you are, your past, present, and future!  Nothing is more important than your eternal salvation!  And as one quote I recently read states it:  "To be spiritually fit, walk with God daily."  Don't allow the cares of this world, the oh so many distractions, sin, entertainment, trivial pursuits in comparison to knowing and serving God, or even questions and doubts to hinder you from coming to know God and growing in your relationship with Him.  Heaven will be worth it.

A dear friend of mine recently (and wisely) mentioned something to the effect of:  "Parents today send their kids into the world like it is a playground, when in reality, it is a battlefield.  I am preparing my little daughter to be a soldier for the army of God and not taking my call as a Christian mother lightly."

Do we want our kids to be holy or happy?  Do we want to raise our children to view life as it is all for fun and all about them and what they desire, seeking happiness in every pursuit this world offers...or do we want to raise our kids to be knowledgeable of the word of God, to know what they believe and why they believe it, to not just be "Sunday Christians" who attend church weekly, but believers who know God, take their walk with Him seriously and rightly treat their relationship with the Lord as a daily commitment, who walk in repentance, stand out from the crowd, and seek to honor God by their decisions (not gratify their sinful flesh)?

Parents, teach your children to see God from a Biblical perspective, show them the difference between religion and a relationship with God, between a list of "do's and don'ts" and a list of "wills and won'ts"!  Teach your kids about God's word and what God expects of those who know Him.  The Lord wants more than lip service...our mere words do not please Him.  Let us raise up soldiers for Christ who realize and apply their Biblical resources to fight against the flesh!  Let us return to a Biblical view of God and once again see Him as His word describes Him.  Not only as a loving and forgiving God, yet also a perfect, holy, just, and righteous God who cannot look upon sin and calls those who claim to follow after Him to turn from their sins, walk in His ways, and fear and obey Him.

"What can make me whole again?  Nothing but the blood of Jesus."
